The parish of Vilar de Mouros, bounded by the hills of Góios, Pena, Gávea and Crasto, corresponds to the northern arm of the elbow with which the basin of the Coura River ends. Situated at the geological convergence of a medium-grained Hercine granite with lurid silurian shale with Andalusian crystals and traversed by pegmatitic aplito lodes, it was to these geographical and geological conditions that it was largely due to its historical destiny.
This parish became famous in 1971 for being the venue of the Vilar de Mouros Festival that takes place every year in the summer, currently with artists of international standing, calling many visitors to the parish.
Heritage: Medieval Bridge, Parish Church, New Church (Senhor dos Passos), Chapel of Senhora do Crasto, Cruzeiro, Nichos and Alminhas, river beach of Azenhas on the river Coura, Azenhas de Vilar de Mouros, Largo do Casal and Monte do Crasto.
