Description
Estate of 15ha of vineyards in Estremoz – Herdade das Barrocas
The Alentejo, the largest region in Portugal, has beautiful landscapes, charming villages and many natural wonders. As a result, unforgettable scenery is spread throughout its territory, which becomes even more incredible at sunset.
The city of Estremoz is located at the meeting point between the main national roads, enjoying a privileged location in the heart of the Alentejo.
Its medieval castle dominates the surrounding landscape, on top of a hill from where you can see the cultivated fields, the green vineyards, the cork oak and holm oak forests, the Serra d'Ossa, the castle of Evoramonte, the olive groves and the marble quarries.
Estremoz is the "white city" of Alentejo. It is recognizable from afar by its white houses, spread along a hill, embraced by old walls and protected, in other times, by the imposing Keep. The epithet of "white city" is due, in addition to the colour of the houses, to the white marble deposits, the famous "Estremoz Marble", which made the city internationally known.
A few kilometers from this picturesque village we find the wonderful Herdade das Barrocas with 15 hectares of vineyards with a production of 220 thousand/L/year of grapes, delivered to Adega de Borba.
The planting of this vineyard is distributed as follows according to its grape varieties:
Since 2017, 1.40ha of Fernão Pires, 0.95ha of Roupeiro, 0.42ha of Aragones, 4.28ha of Syrah, and 2.77ha of Touriga Nacional.
And since 2022, 1.94ha of Tannat, 1.46ha of Cabernet Sauvignon.
To support the estate you will find solar panels, a borehole for water supply, a water table, and drip irrigation.
It has an excellent villa, distributed as follows:
Ground floor with a living room, dining room, a guest bathroom, a suite, a bedroom and a full bathroom, complemented by the comfort of an underfloor heating. The whole house has a peculiar view, over the charm of all the vineyard that surrounds it, with excellent sun exposure, and a lot of light provided by the large windows, which allow natural light to enter throughout the day, since we are talking about one of the sunniest areas of Portugal, gifted every day by the magnificent sunsets, accompanied by a fabulous sunset.
Surrounded by olive trees, we find a charming garden with a typical Alentejo tank next to the house, which can be the setting for good times spent with family or friends.
On the upper floor, the villa has a bedroom also with plenty of natural light provided by a Velux window with blackout and electric opening, a bathroom, and plenty of storage. There is also Daikin air conditioning in all rooms.
We also have a "special" room with jacuzzi and Turkish bath, mimicking a small spa on the ground floor.
You will also find a garage next to the house.
About 2 km away, still part of this estate, there is a plot of land with 2.30ha, planted with Tanat vines.
Come and be dazzled by the charms of the Alentejo!

Estremoz é a "cidade branca" do Alentejo.
